silly tidbits.

some funny/interesting things we've seen/heard/said along the way...

- the world's tallest thermometer at the only gas station in the first 100 miles of the drive from Vegas to L.A.

- after driving away from a rest area in stunning Utah, Emily ponders: "If I found out I had to mow lawns for the rest of my life.....this would be a pretty ok place to do it."

- on the night of the LOST finale, I told Emily we needed to record it before we left the house. I must have said it about fifteen times. We still forgot, and still have not seen the finale.

- Sue and Sylvia doing oracle cards on the kitchen counter. Like I said, I think they were BFF in a past life.

- policemen on segues (in Vegas, one rode right up to a man next to a garbage can and hovered over him, yelling "You wanna put your hands on someone? Put your hands on ME."

- signs outside Vail reading, "Las Vegas, 568." Thanks for blatantly reminding us how far of a drive we have.

- a bride in Vegas posing with someone we thought was her baby brother seeing as how he was about three feet shorter than her. Turns out he was the groom.

- Emily's friend's roommate asking us if we had "ever heard of a band called the Disco Biscuits?"

- the midwest's equivalent of a 7-11, conveniently titled "Kum & Go." If only it were that easy, boys.

- Emily deciding to go in the express lane at the last minute on the way to L.A. Of course, the road starts going uphill, which my car can't handle past 50 m.p.h. Needless to say, the 20 cars that got stuck behind us for 6 miles were not too pleased with us.

- thinking I was going to have a lucky night when the first casino we walked into in Vegas had people push a button for a free spin. You could win $2,500, $500, or some labeled merchandise. I won a windshield reflector. I then proceeded to not win anything else the rest of the night.

Kum and Go??? Sheesh, that's a fitting name for a convenience store in Vegas! =P
