retro metro.

CLICK HERE for a beautiful slideshow revealing the NYC metro system's developments and personal stories from over the years. Not sure how outsiders will react but the photographs are definitely beautiful whether you live here or not. I love the chronological sequence of the photos, starting with the industrial vibe of it all, then the culture of the people through the times, then the rare kodak moments from the funny (Jazzbo the clown) to the endearing (Grandpa and son, heading to the racing tracks). What's more, I love my own personal understanding of this montage - I have only lived here for nine months (wait, what?!) but I am very familiar with some of these subway stations and as a result, I'm slowing and steadily falling into the mold of identifying as a New Yorker.
