proud sister.

Last weekend, I hopped on a cross-country flight to Seattle for the express purpose of seeing Taylor's play, The Pillowman. He and other senior theatre majors had to pick the play, pick roles, pick a director, etc., only to run the entire production with no help from teachers. Taylor had the main role of Katurian K. Katurian and I must say, he KILLED IT - from the light and silly one-liners to the dark and heavy moments of despair.

I hadn't seen my little brother act in a play since his role as a T-bird in his eighth grade production of Grease. Needless to say, I'm so so glad I got to not only see him in a play before he graduated, but in a big play that was incredibly important to him. It was also so refreshing to see his house, meet some of his friends, and to generally see how much he has really thrived in his four years at the University of Puget Sound.

Tay graduates in May and then makes the move to local Seattle. While nobody really knows what awaits him in the future as a post-graduate twenty-something, seeing him in his element this weekend gave me absolutely no doubt that he will be just fine.

Living on the east coast far away from my family sometimes makes me feel disconnected or overly casual regarding what goes on in everyone's day-t0-day life. Our mini-reunion in Seattle last weekend, however, reminded me that as far away as I may be, my pride and my love for this family, and especially for my little brother, never diminishes.

(and speaking of family.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!)
