our trip to SF.

Our ten days in the Bay Area was one of the best trips home I've had in a few years. Adventures ranged from Sarah and Derek's sweet and picturesque wedding, a phenomenal hike in Muir Woods, a bike ride from Corte Madera to Tiburon, a day of perfection on the Russian River, and lots of family, friends, and food in between.

Nick and I had discussed a strong desire to move back to the Bay Area after I graduate from TC but during this trip, that desire for me grew tenfold. I really became aware of the way of life in Marin: the access to the outdoors and the urban life simultaneously, the temperate weather conditions, the environmental awareness of the community, and more. All things I never appreciated enough when I was living there before. Luckily, when Nick and I woke up in New York last Sunday morning, he confirmed the same desires and we set it in stone: A year from now, we will be living in Northern California. Naturally, there are many variables we must sort out: jobs for me, schools for him. But as Tim Gunn would ask of us, we will make it work.

I'll miss the east coast. I'll miss the city and the experiences and the close proximity of all the other New England states. Most of our college friends live here. Autumn is always spectacular here too. But we just can't have both coasts. Nick's family is here but mine is there. In the future, maybe we'll settle somewhere on neutral ground such as Denver but that's for a later time. Right now, we are both feeling the pull toward the Pacific and while Nick is on this bandwagon with me, I am going to seize the opportunity, work my ass off, and make it happen.
