thanksgiving #2.

(via)

You know what that is? That's proof that we ran in a race today! A mild race, mind you, but I've never been much of an athlete, let alone a runner, so this is big. I wanted to run it in under 30 minutes, which I did, but I also only came in a few minutes behind Nick and our friend Eric who are much better runners than me. So, I'm feeling pretty accomplished! I am now ready to tackle a massive plate of Thanksgiving deliciousness at Nick's Aunt Karla's house. I'm sure a few glasses of wine will be involved as well. Hey, we deserve it.

I guess this is the part where I should give thanks. Most of them are obvious: my family, my friends, Nick, Nick's family, my health, my happiness. With the little gratitude lists I like to spurt on this blog every once in a while, I guess I'm feeling thankful that today is not the only day of the year that I am reminded of all the wealth and fortune I have in my life. It is so easy to see the glass as half-empty (I wish I had more money, I wish I didn't have so much homework, I wish I lived closer to my family, yada, yada, yada), but if you just take one second to think about your life as a glass half-full, it is so easy to make a nice long list full of reasons why our lives are so special.

So cheers to you and yours. May your day (and the rest of your weekend) be filled with warm hearts, loving embraces, delicious food, and special reminders of why we are all so very, very lucky.
